A mom’s video about kicking her teenage daughter out of the house for running her mouth has gone viral.
Dysfunction and self-victimization are hot commodities on social media. How else do throngs of blubbering influencers wailing about their grievances amass such large follower counts?
This phenomena could be chalked up to train wreck syndrome. Drama sells, even if it’s bottom barrel dregs sludge, and viewers can’t look away.
And there are a lot of TikTokers who believe that this mother may be falsifying domestic messiness. All in the name of internet clout. Taye (@glameduptaye) is a TikTok user who has accrued over 350,000 views on the social media platform.
In her profile, she specifies that she will not indulge any free collaborations. Moreover, she also indicates that the topics she covers isn’t restricted to any singular niche.
On April 17th, 2025, she uploaded a video where she accuses her 15-year-old-daughter of “spreading false info about” her. Consequently, Taye decided to kick her out of her house.
Upon uploading the video online, numerous TikTok users speculated that she was pretending to beef with her own child purely for views.
@glameduptaye My 15 year old spreading false info about me so I KICKED HER OUT!! Say what yall want! I’m the one RAISING HER! #fyp #explorepage #drama #prom #explore #motherhoodunfiltered ♬ original sound – Glameduptaye
Mom/Daughter Drama
Taye begins her video breathing heavily into the camera where she breaks down the drama between her and her child. “So tired of this with this girl,” she says as she cracks open the door to her car.
Following this, she enters the vehicle. Next, she immediately addresses her daughter, who is off-camera. “Don’t you ever in your life. In your entire life of living feel like you can go to this school. And run your mouth about what’s going on.”
At this point in the clip it appears where Taye’s grievances with her teen lie. The mother seemingly has taken issue with the way the young girl is speaking about her while in school. “Don’t play with me bro. Stop playing.” Following this outburst, Taye catches her breath and closes her eyes.
Her daughter can be heard speaking loudly out of frame, stating that she’s allowed to speak about whatever she likes. “I don’t care about it being your mouth girl, it’s my house that you’re living in. And if you don’t like what I say and what I do and how I parent. Then you do not have to be there,” the TikToker shouts.
Out of the House
Her daughter then retorts, “if you don’t like me spreading information then don’t post me all the time.” Following this, Taye’s face contorts into a puzzled grimace. “Girl, spread info-what is you talking about? Listen,” she says while holding up her hand adorned with long, pink bedazzled nails.
Taye continues, “one thing I can say is…you got a lot of mouth on you. You have a whole lot of mouth. And people be expecting for me to just sit back and take the jibes, take the jibes.”
While Taye speaks, it sounds like her daughter chimes and and states that her mother is garrulous as well. Afterwards, Taye then submits an ultimatum to her 15-year-old. “I’m not gonna take nothing. Either you gonna respect me, or you gonna get out.”
Then, her daughter repeats that she has taken issue with her mother referencing her on social media. “Stop posting me,” someone off-camera can be heard. Instantly, Taye addresses what sounds like another person speaking, “I’m not talking to you,” the TikToker clarifies.
“Maybe you need to mind your business,” another voice says to Taye off-camera. Again, Taye tells the other person in the car that she isn’t speaking to them.
“So disrespectful.”
Their back and forth culminates in yet another beleaguered response from Taye. She then criticizes the behavior of her children in what appears to be a moment where she forgets she is the one who raised them.
“You’re disrespectful for posting me on TikTok,” one of the children in the back of her car states. Taye ends her video with what seems like a defeated look that she flashes into the lens, a la The Office.
Numerous viewers who replied to her video expressed their disbelief with what transpired. Not because they were stunned by what they saw, but that they believed it so be false.
“Why make skits and fake a dysfunctional family. As a grown woman at that,” one person wrote.
“It’s sad what people do for views…smh,” another TikTok commenter echoed.
However, there were others who believed Taye’s interaction with her daughter was legitimate. And many of them sided with her child. “BUT YOU ON THE INTERNET EMBARRASSING HER,” one pointed out.
“She had a point!!! stop posting her business online,” another remarked.
Social sludge
Out of touch people making mountains out of mole hills for internet clout isn’t necessarily a new phenomena. Unfortunately, there are more than enough examples one can highlight that speak to this trend.
For instance, like this one woman who took the time to record herself. Then edit in other video clips, then presumably review, and post a breakdown she had following a nail appointment.
After experiencing what seems to be a chemical burn while getting her nails done, she grieved its implications of such an injury. Sadly, such an injury meant that her trip to Coachella had its vibes tainted.
Adding insult to injury, the accommodations she previously secured, the TikToker stated, were no longer available. She didn’t speculate as to where she booked these accommodations or how much the reservation cost. However, she was worried about having to room with strangers while attending the outdoor music festival.
One wonders if the aforementioned influencer, and others like her, think that perhaps not attending a multi-day concert isn’t all that disastrous. Or that if emotionally investing in an experience that many agree is a f*cking awful waste of time, is wise.
On the other hand, one could argue that drawing attention to this kind of gross humanity is equally bad.
