New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani is facing widespread criticism for his response to alarming sexual assault statistics against women in New York City.
Maybe you’ve heard this one before. A Muslim man of South Asian descent with ties to terrorist groups becomes the mayor of a major metropolitan city. After coming into office, support for police officers is pulled. Then, rape cases skyrocket.
It happened with London’s Mayor Sadiq Khan, who was blasted in January of 2026 after England’s capital city lost 1,460 officers in a single year. Khan took office in 2016, before taking on the role, rape statistics in The Big Smoke were still staggeringly high. In 2014, there were 4,940 instances of sexual assault recorded by Metropolitan police officials.
Sadiq Khan here, making out he has done loads to tackle grooming gangs.

Didnt he deny the exsistence of them a short while ago?😡 pic.twitter.com/yIppMaHuUK
Under his leadership, those figures ballooned to Mad Max levels of depravity. In 2023, The Big Smoke experienced a staggering 8,800+ rape cases. And for 2024/2025, the number of total sexual offences jumped to 26,803, according to analytics compiled by The World Data. Many believe these numbers are only going to worsen, as law enforcement is working towards reopening 4,000 grooming gang cases in the UK.
Mamdani’s tenure as NYC Governor has frightening similarities to Sadiq Khan’s.
Despite the shocking data proving tens of thousands of instances of sexual misconduct and/or rape occurred in the UK, Mayor Sadiq Khan focused on how other criminal offences in London went down under his leadership. This is despite the fact that “possession of weapons, rape and drug trafficking,” all increased with Khan at the helm, as the BBC writes.
The London Mayor’s diversionary accounting of crime stats seem eerily familiar to Zohran Mamdani’s discussion with Pix 11 news on Monday, July 13th, 2026.
In his talk with reporter Dan Mannarino, he expounded on new initiatives of his administration. Additionally, he addressed NYC’s Family Homelessness and Eviction Supplements and an Upper East Side Legionnaires outbreak.
However, it was his comments about the surge in rape reports that angered New Yorkers. Like Khan, Mamdani was quick to point out how reports of “major crime” were down in every category across the five boroughs.
Except women being raped. Although, Mamdani attributed this escalation to legal semantics.
I predict that this isn’t going to age well!@NYCMayor @ZohranKMamdani just DEFENDED rape due to the surge of rapes in NYC … He did this by REDEFINING what rape is … “a lot of it is from expanding what counts as rape.”

Passing the buck.
After being asked about NYC’s 6.6% increase in rapes when compared to the same period in 2025, Mamdani had this to say.
“A lot of the increase in rape also comes from an expanded definition of what counts as rape. As well as survivors coming forward for acts that took place years prior. We are thankful for them coming forward. The courage and the bravery it takes, but just to provide New Yorkers with that context.”
Indeed, there is some truth to Mamdani’s aforementioned statements. New York state Governor Kathy Hochul did pass the “Rape is Rape” law in 2024. Consequently, both anal and oral sex were then categorized as rape. Furthermore, the NYPD did state that 19% of reported rapes in 2026 wouldn’t have been classified as rape prior to this law being passed.
While that doesn’t explain the increase in rapes between 2026 and 2025, New York’s Finest did go on to say that 26% of the new rape cases brought to police were for incidents that occurred years prior.
That man is disgusting. Rape is rape.

Maybe he would understand, if him, or his wife or somebody he cares, gets raped. Maybe then, he would care and do something about it.
This is a country and culture of GOD and GOOD, not the opposite.
“Turning it into a numbers game is absolutely disgusting.”
New York City council members Phil Wong and Susan Zhuang, were one of many who castigated Mamdani for his response. Wong told Pix 11, “Rape is rape. Trying to deflect from an increase in rapes by turning it into a numbers game is absolutely disgusting.”
Moreover, there are fears now that hikes in NYC sexual assaults are a foregone conclusion after Mamdani’s 2027 budget agreement didn’t account for funding for more law enforcement. Julie Menin, a NYC council speaker disagreed with the decision. “I am concerned, and I’ve been speaking about this repeatedly, that rape numbers are going up, felony assaults, and subway crime.”
In truth, Menin does have a point regarding violence hikes among rail commuters in The Big Apple. ClubRive writes that “major transit crimes in NYC’s subway and bus system jump[ed] 17% in early 2026.”
Similarly, felony assaults ticked upwards by 0.4% across the city, and 4.4% in subways. What’s more is that hate crimes have shot up by 74.4% after Mamdani’s inauguration. With a whopping 60% of them targeted towards Jews, as per NY1.

Attempted Rape on NYC Subway
An African has attempted to rape a 25 year old woman around on Saturday on the 63rd Street–Lexington Avenue Q train platform in Manhattan.
This is Multiculturalism.
This is what is happening in all high migrant areas now.…
Destabilization: the terrorism handbook.
Comparably, New York City appears to be heading in a parallel trajectory to London. Whereas cries of racism/discrimination/Islamophobia may quiet individuals afraid of appearing bigoted, others may argue that hard data doesn’t lie.
It’s difficult to ignore Zohran Mamdani’s track record. Citizens victimized by this swell of crime are witnerssing criminals become more brazen, as they watch the progressive fastening of handcuffs over the hands of law enforcement officials. Not perpetrators.
Since Mamdani has previously called to “defund the police,” prior to becoming New York’s mayor, this is unfortunately unsurprising. But there’s another troubling facet to Mandani’s tenure as mayor: his admiration for terrorists. His infamous “My love to the Holy Land five. You better look ’em up,” verse during his ill-fated rap career has been called into question.
Likewise, despite London Mayor Sadiq Khan’s verbal condemnations of terrorist groups, he legally represented a 9/11 bomber. Later, he would go on to also downplay horrific transgressions in his own major city. “Terrorism is just part and parcel of living in a big city,” Khan stated.

Let’s also not forget that Mamdani was pictured cozying up to Imam Siraj Wahhah, who was named by federal prosecutors as a co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. Even more, Mamdani received funding from the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). The PAC is backed by Qatar, which has been accused of financing global terrorist groups, and actively enslaves people for profit within its borders.
